Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut Free DLC Drops This Summer

After being crowned one of the most anticipated games of 2012 , Mass Effect 3 went on to gain a tremendous amount of backlash over the campaign’s controversial ending. Faced with several unhappy customers and a few FTC complains, Bioware eventually responded by confirming that an announcement was forthcoming regarding further Mass Effect 3 DLC.

Today, the company has revealed that they will be releasing Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut DLC this summer for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Extended Cut is expected to provide more closure to the original ending while also promising to give players a more personalized gameplay experience. The DLC will be available free up until April 12, 2014. BioWare co-founder Ray Muzyka added this insight on the content:

“With the Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut we think we have struck a good balance in delivering the answers players are looking for while maintaining the team’s artistic vision for the end of this story arc in the Mass Effect universe.”

So in a nutshell, Bioware is planning to add more clarity to the original ending rather then create a new one from scratch. As a fan of the series, I applaud this approach just so long as it answers all the questions that fans have. Do any of you guys agree with this decision or do you want to see a new ending?
