The duo known as Group Home are this week’s pick for Throwback Thursday with their lead single “Supa Star“.
Group Home comprises of two New York MC’s Lil’ Dap and Melachi The Nutcracker.
Throughout their careers they have had a long term affiliation with the Gangstarr Foundation which helped spread their music during the 90’s.
“Supa Star” was one of the singles released for their 1995 album “Livin’ Proof” which was mostly produced by DJ Premier. As some of you may know, this song was also featured on the “Classic” radio station in Grand Theft Auto IV.
In my humble opinion, “Livin’ Proof” contains some of DJ Premier’s best work and the album is 100% classic East Coast hip-hop throughout. I bought this album last year and I highly recommend that you do yourself a favour and follow suit.
