Warner Brothers today revealed that a new Lord of the Rings game is in development, Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor is being developed by Monolith Productions and will release on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3 and PC.
According to the press release:
“In Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, players will explore the dark and very personal theme of vengeance in a world where decisions have a consequence, and those consequences persist even after death. The game introduces new gameplay mechanics to the action genre, creating opportunities for emergent and customized gameplay that will be rewarding for players.”
Shadow of Mordor is a third person action game and represents the first next-generation Lord of the Rings game, Monolith Productions are a good development team that have been given bad projects in the past such as the LotR MOBA and Gotham City Imposters. Hopefully this is a game where they can show off their talent and finally give us a Lord of the Rings game that we all deserve.
Unfortunately that is all the information we have, no release date or screenshots at all, hopefully we get some more solid details soon, I’ll be interested to see how this game turns out. I really want to play a good game set in Middle-earth.
