Level-5 released a trailer today for their new RPG, Wonderflick. The game will be coming to mobile devices first, followed by a console release.
True to its name, Wonderflick uses a battle system that consists of flicking. The trailer was in Japanese, but it clearly demonstrates the system, which seemed to involve flicking certain icons to create combos in battle. Other than that, it looks like players will be able to create their own characters and explore dungeons as they please.
The game’s graphics aren’t quite on par with Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch; however, it features a familiar style that reminds me of Dragon Quest. Also worth noting is that famed Final Fantasy composer, Nobuo Uematsu, will provide the game’s soundtrack.
Level-5 is bringing the game to iOS, Android, PS3, PS4, PS Vita, Wii U, and Xbox One. Wonderflick will feature a cross-save system called Uniplay, which according to Touch Arcade, will allow players to save their progress no matter which system they use. That said, each version will have unique content.
The trailer demonstrates only the mobile version, so I’m not sure how the flicking will come into play for the console versions. I’m also curious to see how the cross-save feature will work with the exclusive content for each version of the game. The final question that needs to be answered is whether the game will be localized for Western release.
That said, I personally welcome anything Level-5 creates on mobile devices, and Wonderflick seems built with the touchscreen in mind. But which version will you get, if you’re interested?
