It’s finally here, 50 Cent has finally released his new mixtape The Kanan Tape, inspired by his character on the Starz show Power. On the tape 50 Cent pulls inspiration from the grimy character, but he’s not exactly rapping from his perspective. 50 is still 50 Cent on the songs, and he’s still hugely charismatic; but though there’s only a small selection of songs here 50 Cent shows more range than he ever has before.
There are trap songs, and experimentally creative sounds that fit in with today’s trends. 50 doesn’t need to switch his style up to feed his worldwide core audience, but just the fact that he’s trying new things is great to see.
Producers on the tape include: London on the Track, Alchemist, Sonny Digital, Scoop Deville, Illmind, Bandplay and Colt 45
The Kanan Tape will also have music videos for every track, and it also has a short movie tied into it.
