As if 2015 wasn’t good enough to Kendrick Lamar with the release of his To Pimp A Butterfly album, he was just honored in his home state of California.
The “i” rapper received the “Generation Icon Award” from the California State Senate this week for his continued efforts to support the Compton community. Kendrick does this via donations to the Compton Unified School Districts with funds supporting sports, after-school programs, and music.

Big ups to K-Dot on the success not only in music but for giving back to the community. That’s a truly dope thing that many artists don’t do today.
