Those who were looking forward to hearing what post-E3 announcements Sony had to make this year during Gamescom will be disappointed to know that the company will not be holding a press conference.
This news comes to us via VideoGamer.com whom Sony confirmed this news to.
“With the changes this year of E3 taking place a week later and Gamescom taking place earlier, we feel that both PlayStation and the wider industry would benefit from a major news milestone later in the year, during the most important period for gaming,” said Sony Computer Entertainment Europe to VideoGamer. “We are excited about our plans and look forward to sharing some exciting announcements. We will share more information closer to the time.”
Since E3 is taking place a week later than usual, and Gamescom taking place a week earlier than normal, Sony felt it would be best if they instead held an international media briefing in France during Paris Games Week this October.
While this is disappointing news, with events like E3, Paris Games Week, and of course Sony’s own PlayStation Experience this December, it’s safe to say that we’ll have plenty of opportunities to hear what the industry giant has in store for gamers this year and beyond.
