Earlier today, we reported that Sony will not be holding a press conference during Gamescom and instead hold one during Paris Games Week. This raised questions about whether or not Microsoft would do the same thing. Thanks to Xbox head Phil Spencer, we know the answer: Yes, Microsoft will be in Germany this year.
When asked on Twitter about this, Spencer responded with:
@VernAtXboxUncut @iamironwolf Sure, we think GC is an important conference for us. One of the biggest game shows in the world.

Microsoft has a history of not attending Gamescom. However, given that their rival Sony won’t be there, and of course the fact that its Xbox One console is lagging far behind Sony’s PlayStation 4, it’s not much of a surprise that they would indeed have a press conference during Gamescom.
Microsoft has a lot going on this fall with the release of Forza 6, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and the highly anticipated Halo 5. Those these games will no doubt already be shown during their E3 press conference, they will most likely have newer footage to show in Germany.
