Evolution Studios has been acquired by Codemasters, following the former being closed by Sony last month.
As a result, Evolution’s Mick Hocking will be the VP of Product Developer at Codemasters, making him responsible for all of the company’s studios.
Evolution will remain as a team and begin creating new racing IP for Codemasters, publisher of a long line of hits including Dirt Rally and Grid.
“We want to benefit from everything that they’ve learned as a team together, we want them to create their own games,” Codies CEO Frank Sagnier stated.
With the addition of Evolution Studios, Codemasters says they’re now the world’s largest racing-focused company:
“The addition of the Evolution team to our studio group will allow us to scale our business and strengthen our leadership as the world’s premier racing game developer.”
DriveClub Game Director Paul Rustchynsky posted on Twitter that the Evolution Studios team at Codemasters will soon begin working on “an exciting new racing IP.”
We can’t wait to start work with @Codemasters on a new racing IP! Keep following myself & @PhenomEvolution for news. https://t.co/qwdVTNCGPY
