Dead Star Pulled from PS4 and PC 7 Months After Launch

Armature Studios will be shutting down the servers for the multiplayer spaceship combat game, Dead Star, just seven months after release on November 1. Only the tutorial will be playable after this date.

The listing for the game has been pulled from the PlayStation 4 and Steam.

“We are shutting down the game because, bluntly, the costs of operating the game now exceed its income,” Armature director of operations Jack Mathews told Kotaku. “This decision was not taken lightly internally, and was extremely sad to me personally. Armature put a lot of time, love and studio resources into both the game and the community, and we are extremely grateful to our community for their support in keeping this going as long as it could.”

Armature described the game as a “passion project.”

Dead Star launched in April for the PlayStation 4 and Windows PC via Steam and was also a free game as part of the PlayStation Plus.

The developer launched ReCore last month on the Xbox One and Windows PC.
