The era of toy tie-in games looks to be dying a quick death in 2016.
In their latest earnings report, the Walt Disney Company has stated that “$147 million charge in connection with the discontinuation of our self-published console games business, principally Infinity…”.
For the remaining teams at Disney Interactive and Avalanche Software, unfortunately this seems like the end to both of them. Outreach from other studios seems to be already happening on the jobs front.
So for fans hoping for the next wave of Disney Infinity and Marvel tie-ins, looks like that is no longer happening.
More news to follow as it unfolds.
