Earlier today, God of War Creative Director Cory Barlog confirmed in a PlayStation blog post that the next installment in Sony’s popular action-adventure series launches worldwide on April 20th for PlayStation 4. The emotionally-charged story trailer embedded above is nothing short of fantastic and perfectly sets the tone for what fans should expect from this game. Below is a brief description of how this title defers from others in the series.

God of War takes place several years after God of War III and places Kratos firmly within the world of Norse Mythology. Now the father to a son named Atreus, Kratos must teach him how to survive and adapt in a vastly unfamiliar land full of dangerous creatures and threats at every turn. God of War features a third-person, over-the-shoulder free camera and is expected to have a lengthy story campaign that will take roughly 25-35 hours to complete.
