More bad news keeping piling up for World Wrestling Entertainment’s Vince McMahon.
Just after filing for bankruptcy the XFL’s former commissioner Oliver Luck is suing league owner and WWE’s CEO/chairman Vince McMahon for unjust termination.
Luck is citing over $20 million in due compensation was to be paid over the next five years, according to sports business analyst Darren Rovell.
Luck’s lawsuit claims he was not listed as a creditor in the bankruptcy filing. The XFL is owned by McMahon through his Alpha Entertainment enterprise.
The rebooted XFL was the first sports leagues to suspend its operations due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic despite being halfway through its first 10-game season.
The league announced its suspension on March 12th while also struggling in the ratings. On April 10th, the league began terminating its players and operating staff. On April 13th, the XFL filed for bankruptcy.
Meanwhile the WWE continues to operate during the pandemic despite claims of unsafe conditions and employees being forced to work TV tapings.
