New Trailer And Images For Marvel Studios’ Black Widow Released

A trailer and images for Marvel Studios’ Black Widow has released, showcasing Natasha Romanoff’s struggle to face her past and deal with unfinished business.

After watching this second trailer which will release in theaters and Disney+’s Premier PVOD service, it’s clear this movie was meant to be seen in theaters which explains why Marvel bosses and Kevin Feige was hesitant to release the movie on Disney+.

While a majority of the footage released between Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff and her character’s sister Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) isn’t new, there is a new voiceover dialogue by Scarlett Johansson reminding us she died in Avengers: Endgame and this movie is a prequel. “I made mistakes choosing between what the world wants you to be and who you are…We have to go back to where it all started…One thing’s for sure, I’m done running from my past,” she says.

There’s also new footage of Natasha as a kid, David Harbour’s Red Guardian, her father who appears to be a supportive dad: “My girls are the toughest girls in the world!” he says in a flashback scene.

Natasha Romanoff confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger. Scarlett Johansson reprises her role, Florence Pugh stars as Yelena, David Harbour portrays Alexei/The Red Guardian, and Rachel Weisz is Melina.

Black Widow—the first film in Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe—is directed by Cate Shortland and produced by Kevin Feige.

The action-packed spy thriller will launch simultaneously in theaters and on Disney+ with Premier Access* in most Disney+ markets on July 9, 2021.
