EA Sports Reveal The 13 New Heroes Coming To FC 25

As we get closer to the release of EA Sports FC 25 (September 27th 2024 or 20th if you purchase Ultimate Edition) EA has steadily released chunks of news about what new features have been added to this year’s release. I personally LIVE in Football Ultimate Team (FUT). Since its creation in FIFA 09, I’ve spent over 90% of my time solely in this mode.

So, to say I’m familiar with the overall growth & changes of this mode would be an understatement. For those unfamiliar, Hero items are retired players that are not quite regarded as ICONs but are well known or achieved great success for club or country. For example, USMNT Goalkeeper Tim Howard is one of the new heroes and understandably so. Who could ever forget his 16 saves at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

“There’s a lot of heroes in this beautiful game that we love across the globe, and the fact that I’m one of the FC Heroes this year is special to me,” said Tim Howard. “I’m excited to play in goal in FC 25.”

Many (myself included) would argue Tim Howard should have an ICON item instead, but regardless I’m glad to see he along with the other 12 players on this list are recognized for being standout players in the world’s beautiful game.

The Hero items have a comic art style with the players drawn instead of a photo image and are posing. Well, like a superhero. The items are like ICONs in that they have full chemistry with all which makes them just as valuable as ICONs and let’s not forget, they can also be upgraded in evolutions.

Key takeaways from this latest press announcement:

“Today, EA SPORTS FC welcomed 13 new Heroes making their debut in EA SPORTS FC 25, each with the ability to grow with your Football Ultimate Team™ club just as they did during their respective careers. For the first time ever, all players that pre-order EA SPORTS FC 25 Ultimate Edition by August 20 will receive a day-one ‘Origin Hero’ item available from early access launch, which will automatically upgrade to a ‘Prime Hero’ item come November 28.”

Donning their masks, capes and supersuits as larger-than-life versions of themselves, this year’s roster of EA SPORTS FC 25 Ultimate Team Heroes will include 13 new additions:

  • Blaise Matuidi
  • Celia Šašić
  • Eden Hazard
  • Fara Williams
  • Guti
  • Jaap Stam
  • Jamie Carragher
  • Laura Georges
  • Maicon
  • Marek Hamšík
  • Mohammed Noor
  • Tim Howard
  • Zé Roberto

Are there any players you wish were on this list? OF COURSE THERE ARE! I would have liked to have seen Bradley Wright Phillips (BWP) or Nick Rimando on this list (if you know, you know).

EA Sports has not yet announced this years new ICONs and like millions around the world I’m crossing my fingers for David Villa and Cesc Fabregas.
