Gary Lennon Signs New Deal To ‘Create New and Unexpected Franchise Extensions’ Of Power-verse

Showrunner Gary Lennon and the Power franchise isn’t leaving Lionsgate Television anytime soon in fact viewers are going to start seeing more him.

The studio has signed the Power Book IV: Force showrunner to a new deal that will see him continue at the helm of the Starz series while also developing further extensions of the Power-verse. Lennon’s deal comes just as Force starts production on its third season.

“Gary has been a major creative force in the Power universe,” said Kevin Beggs, Lionsgate Television group chair and chief creative officer. “We look forward to extending our partnership as we collaborate with Starz to create new and unexpected franchise extensions for Power fans.”

Lennon has a long-standing relationship with Lionsgate TV, having worked on the studio’s Orange Is the New Black and the flagship Power series before becoming showrunner of Book IV. He has also worked on Starz and Lionsgate’s P-Valley and Hightown.

“Lionsgate Television has been the ideal production partner,” said Lennon. “Their creative team is unmatched, and they have been incredibly supportive as we’ve built and expanded the Power universe. They are a great home for talent looking to broaden their creative horizons.”

Lennon’s credits as a writer and producer also include FX’s Justified and The Shield. He earned an Emmy nomination and Peabody award in 2014 as part of Orange Is the New Black’s producing team and has Writers Guild of America Awards nominations for OITNB and Justified. He is repped by CAA and attorney Erik Hyman.

Jonathan Kleinman negotiated the deal for Lionsgate TV.
