It’s the new year. A time for new beginnings and new TV shows and movies to get obsessed with. What better way to celebrate a new season than with some upcoming Marvel TV shows and movies! Starting in January and all the way through December 2025, Marvel has projects that will satisfy all fans, from animation to a mature-rated show to a TV show within a TV show. So, sit back, grab some popcorn, and check all the details from the upcoming season.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man
Marvel Animation – January 29, 2025 (Disney+)
In this alternate universe, high school student Peter Parker (Hudson Thames, reprising the role from What If…?) is mentored by Norman Osborn (Colman Domingo) and not Tony Stark. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will explore Parker’s identity pre-Spider-Man and how his superhero career began.
In celebration of the series, Marvel Comics released the companion comic book series to the upcoming Disney+ series called Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #1 that explores Spider-Man’s origin story that we’ll see in the show. In this version, Parker gets bit by a spider falling out of a portal created by Dr. Stephen Strange as he is fighting Venom, connecting his origin to magic instead of science. After the life-changing event, he attempts to juggle high school, care for his aunt May, and, of course, be a superhero. The series includes a cast of characters whose relationships and stakes result in “tragic and dangerous” situations to be developed throughout the first season that will feature some supporting characters in important roles. Will the pair learn to be heroes together, or will the latter lead Peter to a more dubious path where the ends justify the means?
Additional voice cast includes Eugene Byrd as Lonnie Lincoln; Grace Song as a new take on Marvel’s Runaways’ Nico Minoru; Hugh Dancy as Otto Octavius; Kari Wahlgren as May Parker; Zeno Robinson as Harry Osborn; and Paul F. Tompkins as Bentley Whittman. Additional characters set to appear: Doctor Strange, The Scorpion, Curt Connors, Venom, and Tony Stark. Jeff Trammell serves as the head writer, with Mel Zwyer as the supervising director. The executive producers are Brad Winderbaum, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt, and Jeff Trammell.
In an interview with comicbook.com, Winderbaum stated, “Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is amazing. It’s really going to surprise people. It is very much like a cut from that Steve Ditko era of the comics. It’s Peter Parker back in high school just trying to make it work, take care of his aunt, be completely broke, and be a superhero. It’s so essentially Spider-Man, and what Jeff Trammell, the creator of that show, did, which I think people are going to love, is he built this ensemble of characters around Peter that you fall in love with. Similarly, just because it’s long-form storytelling, as those relationships brew when the stakes rise in that first season, things feel really tragic and dangerous and pretty incredible.”
As seen in the trailer above, this series feels like a love letter to comic books as we’re shown several boxes of Marvel Comics, stopping to show us a box with a Marvel Animation’s Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man comic book sticking out. The nostalgic comic book feel continues throughout the trailer as the animation is designed to pay homage to Spider-Man’s comic roots. The visual style reflects the early comic book art of Spider-Man, connecting the series to the legacy of Marvel’s creation. Soon the page of the comic opens, revealing Peter Parker being awoken by Aunt May to attend Midtown High.
The clumsy ‘Parker ‘Petey Parkey goes through the typical high school classes until he hears outside the window someone yelling for help. He then travels through the city using his spiderwebs to help Harry Osborn, whose assault is about to be livestreamed. After a successful rescue, Peter’s friend and confidant, Nico Minoru, and Harry spend time hanging out together. Peter is determined that his powers are to help and protect people. Peter is seen helping various people in the city, battling a fire, all while walking through Oscorp (where we see a photo of Captain America) under Norman’s tutelage. However, Parker’s secret is blown; Osbourne uncovers Parker’s true identity. Shocked at first, Parker is pleased to learn that Osbourne wants to help him achieve ‘greatness.’ Taking Osbourne’s offer, Parker dons a new white and blue suit. But with greatness comes a teacher who notices his late arrival.
The 10-episode show will stream on Disney+ on January 29th.
Captain America: Brave New World
Marvel Studios – February 14, 2025 (Theaters)
In the series finale of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, ‘One World, One People,’ Sam Wilson accepts the Captain American mantle and comes to terms with the implications of what that means as a Black man. Now in Captain America: Brave New World, Wilson is put to the test following the election of Thaddeus Ross as the president of the United States. Wilson finds himself at the center of an international incident and must work to stop the true masterminds behind it. As shown in the movie’s first trailer, there is tension in the air during a White House meeting, as Sam comes face to face with newly elected U.S. President Thaddeus Ross. Harrison Ford makes his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Ross, a role originated by the late William Hurt.
When audiences last saw Wilson and Ross together, Ross was responsible for arresting Wilson and his fellow Avengers during the events of Captain America: Civil War. Now as president, Ross is eager to work with Sam, hoping to make Captain America an official military position. Wilson has his concerns with government oversight for superheroes, as it shows him balancing life as Falcon and Wilson. However, things go awry when Wilson’s friend and retired super-soldier Isaiah Bradley (Carl Lumbly) attacks the president. Bradley’s experiences as a Black superhero were important to shaping the complex themes of race and Wilson as a Black Captain America in a country that may not entirely respect him. Soon Wilson finds himself in the middle of an international investigation that sends him on a dangerous chase and showdown with a menacing Red Hulk (Harrison Ford).
As seen in the trailer, Danny Ramirez returns as former Air Force lieutenant Joaquin Torres, who’s picked up Sam’s old wings and taken on the role of Falcon. Tim Blake Nelson is also back as Samuel Sterns, AKA The Leader, appearing in the MCU for the first time since 2008’s The Incredible Hulk. Even more surprising, Marvel will finally address Tiamut, the deceased Celestial from Eternals. Shared X by @kepleravocado, Brave New World promotional artwork teases a comics-accurate The Leader, complete with an enlarged cranium and green skin.
In an interview with CBR, Nelson revealed he was directly involved with The Leader’s look in the movie, explaining that he “worked with the Marvel team and this wonderful makeup artist named David Atherton” to develop The Leader’s practical look. “I think people are going to be pretty excited about what this guy looks like. And what he has to say and what he does. All power to the amazing team over there at Marvel,” he added.
Daredevil: Born Again
Marvel Studios – March 4, 2025 (Disney+)
When one thinks of Disney Plus, Daredevil doesn’t exactly come to mind. Between the violence from the comics and the Netflix series, many people wondered if the toned-down version would ruin the character. When he appeared in Marvel’s Hawkeye, people were excited, then they saw Kingpin’s costume, and that quickly dissipated. His appearance in She-Hulk as a potential love interest also divided fans. However, this all showed the many sides of The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen. After reworks to the script, Marvel is promising Daredevil will be restored to his original glory, with Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) and Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) by his side. During a surprise Daredevil: Born Again panel at New York Comic Con, fans got an early look at a trailer that showed the Man Without Fear’s new costume and fights with The Punisher, Kingpin, Muse, a serial killer who turns his kills into art, and the addition of Yusuf Khan, Ms. Marvel’s father, who witnesses Murdock fighting criminals. The tone was dark, the fights were exciting, and the blood was present. Cox and D’Onofrio confirmed Born Again would not hold back in terms of violence, even alluding to more intense moments than fans saw in Netflix’s Daredevil.
Taking place after the events of Echo, which saw Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) on a plane wanting a meeting with all the remaining heads to stabilize his control, he sees NY1 News anchors Errol Louis and Pat Kiernan discussing the upcoming NYC mayoral race, which has no clear frontrunner. Lewis proclaims the ideal candidate New Yorkers want is a fighter, which works against the career politicians. With legitimate problems in the city, voters want somebody who understands the pain and frustrations they are going through. “A bare-knuckle brawler would do well in this race. An outsider, who is not afraid to take on the establishment.” Kieran asks, “Is that candidate even out there? No doubt it’s late in the process, but there’s still a window of opportunity. This can be anybody’s race.”
It appears in this series that Kingpin’s desire to run for NYC Mayor actually happens, as he is seen meeting Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) in the middle of the NYC streets surrounded by onlookers and an assistant. “It’s been some time, hasn’t it? You’ve come up in the world,” Kingpin later says at an empty diner. Images of Kingpin and Vanessa at an event flash by as he asks, “I wonder if your darker half would agree.” Daredevil is seen walking through the streets at night; a fight happens as two people crash through a window of a diner. They both laugh devilishly as they know which buttons to press to get under each other’s skin. Viewers are teased with more hallways and alley fights (fight scenes that made the Netflix version so incredible). Not even The Punisher can overcome his beatdown as he’s slammed into the ground, a bloody mess.
Daredevil: Born Again is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ on March 4, 2025, with a nine-episode first season. A second season was confirmed with filming expected to begin in 2025.
Thunderbolts*
Marvel Studios – May 6, 2025 (Theaters)
“You feel fulfilled? There is something wrong with me…An emptiness…I’m just drifting…And I don’t have a purpose.” – Yelena Belova
You can’t choose your family, and sometimes you can’t choose the supervillains you’re forced to go on missions with.
The Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, and X-Men; Marvel’s history of teams runs deep, but there’s something special about the Thunderbolts*, a group of antihero/supervillain/superhero teams. Florence Pugh returns as depressed assassin Yelena Belova, in search of a purpose after the death of her sister Natasha Romanoff. She finds herself drawn back to her father, Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian (David Harbour), who is also living in a depressed state. But they aren’t the only people who have lost life’s meaning. John Walker (Wyatt Russell), now a dad, is detached as he reads about himself in an article titled ‘Fall of a Hero: The John Walker Story.’ But life can give you purpose again if someone is trying to kill you, along with Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), and Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen). And as Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Valentina Allegra de Fontaine said, it can change your perspective on who are the bad guys and who are the worst guys.
While the Thunderbolts* trailer reintroduces audiences to people we know, love, and hate (hi, John Walker), one of the biggest mysteries is a character simply named Bob (Lewis Pullman), making people wonder who he is and what this means for the team. Even though Marvel has not confirmed his identity, it is assumed Bob is Robert Reynolds, also known as both The Sentry and The Void.
According to Marvel Comics, Sentry is one of the most powerful heroes; he just doesn’t know it. But there’s a reason why he’s in a military facility and his clothes are riddled with bullet holes after being shot. Bob doesn’t know who he is or the fact that he has the power of a million exploding suns after taking a super soldier-like serum. He’s basically the MCU’s Superman. However, not remembering this is probably for the best since his alter ego, The Void, is a villain that uses The Sentry’s powers to become a threat to Earth. Yes, Sentry and Void are the same person. As explained in the video above, his origin story is rather dark, and it will be interesting to see how Marvel Studios and the Thunderbolts* team handle it.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Louis-Dreyfus confirmed Thunderbolts* will reportedly have more grounded fight scenes and stunts. “What’s great about this film is it’s got sort of a grittiness that matches up well with the comedy, and there’s not a lot of greenscreen. There’s not these special effects that go on for hours. It’s people doing their own stunts. It’s got a rawness that I think the audience is going to very much enjoy, sort of going back to roots in that sense. It’s a completely different beast.”
She also explained how Allegra de Fontaine (who still seems untrustworthy) will really be explored, explaining how it will finally reveal all of her schemes. “This movie’s a real opportunity for me to really explore the Val character. You really get to know what she’s made of, and even a lot of her backstory. She’s in it to win it.
Ironheart
Marvel Studios – June 24, 2025 (Disney+)
“You’re Princess Shuri! What the hell are you doing here? Oh, shit, am I going to be recruited?” – Riri Williams
The year is 2020, and Disney has announced a new Marvel Studios series for Disney+ titled Ironheart, starring Dominique Thorne as the MCU’s Riri Williams, a teenage engineering genius at MIT who builds a suit based on Tony Stark’s Iron Man and dons the superhero name Ironheart. Since those years, Riri made her debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Marvel’s What If…? showcasing her brilliance, authenticity, and relatable personality.
In Wakanda Forever, audiences learned Williams is an MIT student and a gifted inventor who created various cutting-edge designs, such as a flying suit of armor, based on Iron Man’s suits. As one of her projects was used by the CIA to find vibranium outside Wakanda, Williams found herself threatened by Namor, since her invention put Talokan in danger of being exposed to the surface world. Targeted by both Talokanil and the United States government, Williams was approached by Shuri and the Wakandans. Williams’ skills, along with the Wakandan technology, helped the Wakandans in the final battle, using a new armor.
In What If Season 3 Episode 5 ‘What If The Emergence Destroyed the Earth?’ Williams is the world’s last hope, as the world’s end came when the Celestial gestating underneath its surface awoke. As seen in Wakanda Forever, her stubbornness and dedication are the core of her character, and the emotions displayed are why she has the potential to become a true hero. But that’s not going to stop her determination (the Emergence didn’t even stop multiverse Riri) as she decides she needs to create AI to assist her. In the comics her AI assistance was called Neuro-Autonomous Technical Assistant & Laboratory Intelligence Entity (N.A.T.A.L.I.E.), after scanning and compositing her brainwaves and memories. The AI’s name is also a tribute to Riri’s best friend, who was killed when they were children in a shooting.
But before she accomplishes her vision, she needs money. Enter The Hood, aka Parker Robbins (Anthony Ramos). Parker Robbins, who promises to get the tools Riri needs if she does some nefarious jobs for him. In the trailer he tells Riri, “Anyone who’s ever accomplished anything iconic in life has had to do some questionable things to get it done.” In the comics, Robbins stole magical artifacts that gave him powers that were tied to Dormammu. He would eventually form a gang of super criminals to try and take over the underworld. However, it is rumored that his powers come from Mephisto (rumored to be played by Sacha Baron Cohen). Riri does get her suit, but at what cost?
Fantastic Four
Marvel Studios – July 25, 2025 (Theaters)
The First Family is finally back home, and what a beautiful home it could possibly be. Filled with an alternate version of the 60s, space travel, Victor Von Doom (rumored), and Galactus, it is set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world. The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduces Marvel’s First Family—Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm/Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm/Human Torch (Joseph Quinn), and Ben Grimm/The Thing (Ebon Moss Bachrach)—as they face their most daunting challenge yet. Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner); and if Galactus’ plan to devour the entire planet and everyone on it weren’t bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal.
But what exactly does ‘it suddenly gets very personal’ mean? During D23, the First Steps trailer was shown to much praise. In the trailer, Mr. Fantastic Reed Richards is teaching a science class about an equation of his that proves parallel earths exist on different dimensional planes…the multiverse, which we know will have an effect in Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars. Doomsday will be focused on Victor Von Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr.
The world of The First Step is shown as a futuristic New York City with a 1960s aesthetic; it feels like the 60s of yesteryear, mixing the past with the future. The Baxter Building is shown on the Upper East Side near the river (42nd Street and Madison Avenue), with the Excelsior Launchpad stretching out into the river as the Fantasticar is in the background, flying through the city.
The footage shown has a documentary feel to it, with snippets of the family’s life, Reed, Sue Storm, Ben Grimm, and Johnny Storm, before they embark on the fateful trip that will forever change their lives. Wearing their blue and white spacesuits, we see the dynamics of the family as Ben teases Reed, Reed, and Sue are a loving couple holding hands, and Sue tries to find a girlfriend for her brother, mentioning that he’s ‘very single.’
While the teaser doesn’t show Ben after transforming into The Thing, there is an ode to The Dating Game TV show, a blind date dating show called ‘Let’s Make A Match’ that features a woman choosing The Thing. Is Ben looking for love, or is this a stunt to show off their popularity? Rumors have started online that Natasha Lyonne would be playing Alicia Masters, who is a blind sculptor in Marvel Comics that forms a bond with Ben Grimm/The Thing, eventually becoming his wife.
But the biggest moment came when Galactus, wearing a comic-accurate helmet, was looking in through the window of the Baxter Building. This visually stunning moment that makes people wonder, is this when it “becomes personal”? Also, you have to wonder how long the Baxter Building is going to survive since its destruction is a running gag in the comics for years. In the comics, the landlord, Walter Collins, was excited to rent it out to a superhero team for the publicity and prestige, but he soon regretted it when the building became a constant target for numerous attacks by supervillains starting. In Fantastic Four #6, Doctor Doom launched the entire building into outer space. While we doubt that’ll be the building’s fate, one must wonder who ‘The Eater of Worlds’ is looking for. We’re sure it’s not H.E.R.B.I.E. who is in shock to see Galactus staring back at him.
Eyes of Wakanda
Marvel Animation – August 6, 2025 (Disney+)
“Throughout Wakandan history, brave warriors have been tasked to travel the world retrieving dangerous vibranium artifacts. This is their story.” – eyes of wakanda
When audiences were first introduced to Black Panther, they were also introduced to the Kingdom of Wakanda, its people, and its technology. Hidden from the world is a thriving society full of life, love, culture, and stories. Even when threats and death arrive at its gates, its people are resilient. Now with Eyes of Wakanda, viewers will get an inside look at the importance of Wakanda and its people.
Marvel Studios’ Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation Brad Winderbaum revealed on The Official Marvel Podcast that the series will focus on the history of Wakanda while also still exploring the future of the MCU. “This is a story about Wakandan history. It’s produced by Ryan Coogler and directed by Todd Harris, who is one of our longtime storyboard artists…. It’s an awesome show; the action’s insane, and the storytelling is fantastic.“ It’s both about the history of Wakanda, but it also expands into the greater MCU at different time periods. So, if you’re a fan of the movies, I think this show is going to be a real treat. Eyes of Wakanda, more than any other show, fits right into our sacred MCU timeline continuity. It looks amazing. And it feels like, ‘Okay, I’m getting an animated look into the MCU.'”
Eyes of Wakanda will release on Disney+ on August 6th.
Marvel Zombies
Marvel Animation – October 3, 2025 (Disney+)
In Marvel Studios’ What If…? season one episode five, The Watcher asked, ‘What If…Zombies?’ which introduced viewers to one of the most memorable scenarios that saw the Avengers being infected by a zombie plague from the Quantum Realm. In that episode, fans watched an action-packed zombie thriller that saw a zombified Thanos on a mission and several heartbreaking deaths.
After the success of that episode, Marvel Studios thought, ‘What if we turned this into its own series?’ On November 12, 2021, during Disney+ Day, they announced an animated Marvel Zombies series was in development for Disney+ that would not only continue the universe that was set up in What If… Zombies? but it would be rated TV-MA.
Marvel Zombies will see a group of survivors fighting against former heroes and superheroes that have been turned into zombies. Shang-Chi, Yelena Belova, Kate Bishop, Wanda Maximoff, zombie versions of Ghost, Abomination, Captain Marvel, Scarlet Witch, Hawkeye, Okoye, and Captain America are set to appear. Non-zombie versions of Jimmy Woo, Kate Bishop, Yelena and Shang Chi. In an interview, Iman Vellani confirmed she had voiced Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel for the series with Khan being one of the series’ main characters.
In an interview with EW, Winderbaum shed more light on the 4-episode series. “If you remember that zombies episode from season 1 – that is very much like the part 1 prologue for this giant, epic event that is coming out next year. It ties right in. It is the same universe. If you’ve never seen that episode of ‘What If…?’ you do come at the universe from a different angle. So, you could just watch the four episodes of Marvel Zombies coming in completely blind because it does tell its own story. But if you do know that episode of ‘What If…?’ and what happens in it, it does connect entirely to that episode.”
While Marvel Zombies was a five-issue limited series by Marvel Comics, a January 5, 2024, interview with Bryan Andrews revealed that since the series was a spin-off of the What If…? episode Marvel Zombies is not a direct adaption of the comic book series, but that it was inspired by it.
During a Disney fan event, fans saw Wenwu, Shang-Chi, and Katy fighting against zombies. While The Ten Rings save a bitten Shang-Chi from the infection, Wenwu isn’t so lucky. After a five-year time jump, Shang-Chi and Katy use The Ten Rings in a fight against biker Skrulls in a Mad Max inspired wasteland.
Marvel Zombies will premiere on Disney+ on October 3, 2025.
Wonder Man
Marvel Studios – December 2025 (Disney+)
If you’re a fan of the West Coast Avengers and know a little bit about Simon Williams, you’re going to be, I hope. If you’re anything like me, then you’d be very excited about how much homage to source material there is actually in the show, and it is really a love letter to Hollywood.” – Brad Winderbaum
Do you like your TV shows within a TV show that could have a larger implication on the other TV shows you watch? Say hello to Wonder Man, an upcoming Marvel TV series that’s very meta, kept under wraps but has connections to The West Coast Avengers, Zemo, Hawkeye, and a love triangle with Wanda and Vision. Described as a “love letter to Hollywood,” the series follows Simon Wiliams, an actor in Hollywood auditioning for a role in the Wonder Man movie, and his friend/fellow actor Trevor Slattery (Ben Kingsley). Judging by the teaser, it appears Slattery is an acting coach and mentor to Williams.
But how does Simon connect to the MCU? Here’s where it gets interesting: Williams is a superhero pretending to be an actor in a movie about a superhero. In The Avengers #9, readers are introduced to Eric and Simon Williams, the sons of Sanford Williams, who owns a rival munitions tycoon of Tony Stark. Sanford wants Eric to join the company and be his successor, but he refuses. Despite being given the keys to the company, Eric doesn’t fit in with his family, and with Simon being the pride and joy of the family, he never felt fully accepted. This anger pushes Eric to pursue a crime-filled life that eventually leads him to gain a mighty scythe and take on the role of Grim Reaper.
While Eric declined his father’s offer, Simon accepted, but things went awry once Simon inherited full control over the business at the age of 22. Coupled with Simon’s inexperience and poor management skills, Williams Innovations flounders in the competitive marketplace that includes Stark Industries. Desperate to save his father’s company, he turns to embezzlement, racketeering, and bad advice from Eric that results in Simon facing jail time.
Enter Baron Zemo, who takes an interest in Williams’ case and shared hatred for Tony Stark. He offers Simon a spot in the Masters of Evil, and Williams agrees to become a test subject for Zemo’s “ionic ray” treatment, a process that would give him superhuman strength and durability. Now dubbed Wonder Man, Zemo plans to use him to defeat the Avengers by gaining their trust and leading them into an ambush. Because of Zemo’s “ionic ray” treatment, Wonder Man and Vision are linked to each other through ionic energy and brainwaves, with Wonder Man considering Vision to be a brother. Wonder Man also develops feelings for Wanda, and it gets messy.
However, Williams develops a change of heart for the Avengers and decides to be a hero. When Hawkeye went to Los Angeles to form the West Coast Avengers, Wonder Man was invited to join the team. Despite certain qualms about living up to the Avengers’ standards, he accepted. While helping the team in its struggle to establish its own identity, Simon Williams decided to seek employment in order to give himself something useful to do and so he was not financially dependent upon the Avengers. He was determined to become an actor, since he felt that during much of his time with the Avengers, he was only acting at being a hero. He decided to put his nearly indestructible body to use by doing stunt work for the movies. He gained success and transitioned into acting. Hence, why he was at the audition in the teaser.
While MCU Zemo actor Daniel Brühl has not been announced for Wonder Man, he could explain what Zemo has been up to since escaping prison in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.
Demetrius Grosse (Straight Outta Compton), who will play Eric Williams/Grim Reaper, stated in an interview with Collider that Wonder Man will focus on the sibling rivalry. “Yes, and I think people are going to be intrigued by the dynamic between Simon Williams and Eric Williams as much as they’re excited about the dynamic between Grim Reaper and Wonder Man. This series is [going to] be a very, very different kind of show, but pleasantly so.”
Wonder Man will release on Disney+ in December 2025 with 8 episodes.
