Marvel Rivals is an explosive hero shooter slated for a December 6th, 2025 release. We at The Koalition recently were invited to join the closed beta for the game. As a seasoned Overwatch player, I’ve had my eyes on Marvel Rivals since it was announced. That’s why I knew I had to cover this game and see how it may impact the current hero shooter landscape.
My verdict after spending time in the beta is that Marvel Rivals has the potential to take over the hero shooter market, at least for a period of time. The Marvel property has a library of iconic characters that could be rolled out in the game for years to come. People will no doubt keep coming back to the game to try out their favorite Marvel heroes any time they’re released.
On top of that, Marvel Rivals is fun to play. This means that NetEase passed the most important test of all.
