Netflix is marking the sixth anniversary of its flagship FYSEE space by moving to Sunset Las Palmas in Los Angeles. The streaming giant kicked off the announcement using a crown-themed cake-nodding to its Emmy-winning series, “The Crown”-to entice Television Academy voters to visit its huge slate of top-contending series.
Netflix hosted their kick-off event at this year’s FYSEE Space at Sunset Las Palmas Studios with a screening and Q&A for the hit limited series, Griselda. The evening consisted of a screening of episode 105 “Paradise Lost,” followed by a panel featuring Executive Producer and Actress Sofia Vergara who stars at Griselda Blanco, Executive Producers Eric Newman, Andres Baiz, Doug Miro, and several of the amazing artisans that brought this series to life.
The panel was moderated by Editor-in-Chief of ELLE, Nina Garcia. Following the panel there was a special performance by Emmy-winning series composer Carlos Rafael Rivera, accompanied by an orchestra, featuring music from the series.
Griselda is a fictionalized dramatization inspired by the life of the savvy and ambitious Griselda Blanco, who created one of the most powerful cartels in history. Set in 1970s-80s Miami, Blanco’s lethal blend of unsuspected savagery and charm helps her expertly navigate between business and family, leading her to become widely known as “the Godmother.” People Magazine called Vergara’s performance “an irresistible star turn that never sacrifices an almost-retro sense of glamour, no matter how many hit jobs Griselda orders.”
