My Top 5 Most Anticipated Video Games From The Game Awards 2025

The Game Awards 2025 officially wrapped last night and left us with plenty of exciting reveals and things to think about. While I’m glad to see Clair Obscur’s: Expedition 33 take home 9 awards, I was equally impressed by several new reveals for games launching in 2026. With this in mind, I wanted to highlight a few of those games today and explain why they might be worth keeping an eye on:

The Game Awards 2025

First up is Resident Evil Requiem, which launches on February 27th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. I spoke about this highly anticipated next installment in the survival horror series after playing the demo earlier this year, and I’ll have even more to say about it in the weeks and months ahead.

While details about Leon being a playable character leaked ahead of the show, it didn’t take away from my excitement of seeing him in the newest trailer, taking out zombies left and right. I still have so many questions about this game, and I’m eager to see how Grace and Leon’s stories evolve. Luckily, we won’t have to wait too much longer to find out, and hopefully, Capcom will release a public demo just like they did for Pragmata last night.

Next up is John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando, an 80s action-horror co-op shooter from Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on March 12th. This reveal surprised me, as I’m a huge Left 4 Dead fan and had no idea Saber Interactive was working on another game.

They did a phenomenal job on the World War Z game, and based on what we have seen so far from the 80’s look and feel, down to the music, this has the potential to be another bangar. To many, it may look like just another zombie game, but it definitely has the potential to be a fun co-op game to kick off the new year.

Another reveal that surprised me at the show was CONTROL Resonant, the long-awaited sequel to Remedy’s 2019 action-adventure hit CONTROL. Launching next year for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Mac, Resonant revolves around Jessie Faden’s brother, Dylan, as he utilizes his powers to fight against a reality-bending cosmic threat.

While I knew this game was in active development, I was genuinely surprised to see it launching so soon. I was also surprised to see the story shift towards Dylan, as it will offer a new perspective and keep this unique world fresh and engaging with new ideas. There’s still so much more I want to learn about this game, and I’m definitely sold so far based on what we have seen.

The Game Awards 2025

The next game on my list is Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, a reimagined version of Lara’s legendary debut coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC next year. Developed by Crystal Dynamics in partnership with Amazon Game Studios, this trailer looked phenomenal and instantly reminded me of how great this series was when it debuted back in 1996. The character design of Lara, the high-intensity action scenes, and the excitement of facing the unknown were all on display here, and I can’t wait to see more.

We also got a cool trailer for Tomb Raider: Catalyst, which is launching in 2027. Once again, I knew these games had been in active development for a while, but seeing them revealed this way made me even more excited. I have confidence this series is headed in the right direction and am glad we won’t have to wait too much longer to experience Lara’s next adventure.

Last but certainly not least is a game that is, without a doubt, already an early frontrunner on my 2026 game of the year list. Of course, I’m referring to Phantom Blade Zero, which got a new gameplay trailer and an official September 9th, 2026, release date for PlayStation 5 and PC. I have been high on this game ever since playing an early demo build of it at Summer Game Fest 2024.

The action-packed trailer reminded me exactly why this game is badass, and I look forward to seeing how the final product turns out. If you’re an action RPG fan and like the idea of playing as an elite assassin, then this most certainly should be on your radar.

This list is just a sample of what I enjoyed the most at the show, and more games will be covered in the future. Stay tuned for more of our thoughts from the overall show, and definitely let us know what you did and didn’t like about The Game Awards 2025 in the comments section below.
