Temperatures are getting hot in New York as The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen makes his return for season 2 on Netflix. To celebrate New York’s own, the cast of Daredevil: Born Again season 2 participated in Marvel Television’s showcase at NYCC who showed off a teaser trailer and explained what season two will entail.
In the season one finale, titled “Straight to Hell”, escalates Matt Murdock’s battle against Wilson Fisk, now the mayor of New York City, who has fully reverted to his Kingpin persona. After taking a bullet to save Fisk, Matt is battered both physically and emotionally, but this act cements his rebirth as Daredevil. Fisk tightens his grip on the city, declaring martial law and an 8 p.m. curfew, while power outages and riots plunge New York into chaos. Instead of cowering, Matt rallies a small resistance group, including Karen Page, Josie, and a few honest cops, to fight Fisk’s corrupt Anti-Vigilante Task Force. His rallying cry—“Resist, rebel, rebuild”—signals the start of a gritty underground war.
Cox told the crowd. “By the time we get to season 2, that deal is off the table. All bets are off. The world has changed a lot for Matt and Superheroes in general. It’s a much more sinister world for people who are trying to do the right thing.”
But despite Matt and Fisk’s on-screen rivalry, Cox said that in real life, he and costar Vincent D’Onofrio couldn’t be closer. “Shockingly, Vincent and I are very good friends off screen,” Cox said with a laugh. “So the longer we get to keep making [this show] the better.”
Season 1 ended with Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk making a pact; by Season 2, that deal is gone, and the world has become “much more sinister” for those trying to do the right thing. Ritter’s return will be“very personal” and that her character brings “edginess and lightness” to balance Daredevil: Born Again’s darker tone Her crossover with Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk promises fresh dynamics, potential new alliances, and more high-stakes action for viewers. Season 2 is set to deliver a bigger, more interconnected Marvel story.
In a shocking surprise during Marvel Television’s panel at NYCC, Ritter joined Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock) and Vincent D’Onofrio (Wilson Fisk) to discuss Season 2. She described stepping back into the role six years after Jessica Jones ended as “surreal but also as if no time had passed,” and praised her on-screen chemistry with Cox.
“It was surreal but also as if no time had passed,” Ritter said of returning. “I love Charlie so much as a person. I love being with him and acting with him, and I love playing these characters. It felt big and celebratory and larger than life.”
“It’s so exciting to have Kristen back and to have JJ in the show,” Cox explained. “But as soon as I read that, I was like, ‘Great, there’s going to be a lot of snarky comments about Daredevil and his ears or whatever.'”
“Oh yeah, any time we get a chance to improvise, I’m going to make fun of Charlie,” Ritter added with a laugh.
The duo also confirmed that a third season of Daredevil: Born Again is already in the works. Daredevil: Born Again season 2 will premiere exclusively on Disney+ in March 2026.
