As part of its “Greatest Games Lineup,” Microsoft released Gears of War: Ultimate Edition last year. This version went beyond simply giving the original game higher resolution textures, and featured assets which were completely remade from the ground up to meet the standards of a modern game while retaining the classic control scheme and level layout of the Xbox 360 title.
Today, Microsoft is releasing the game on Windows PC. As you would imagine, this version of the game sports 4k resolution built with Direct X12 to provide users with even more detailed visuals. The game will have unlimited refresh rates with unlocked framerates for both campaign and multiplayer. Players on either Xbox One or PC can now face off against one another thanks to crossplatform play through Xbox Live. It will also feature controller and mouse and keyboard control support.
Gears of War: Ultimate Edition is available now on Windows 10 PC.
