2016 was the biggest year ever for the video game industry earning $91 billion, according to a report from SuperData Research.
People spent $40.6 billion on mobile gaming in 2016. This was driven by the success of Pokémon GO and Clash Royale. The PC gaming market brought in $35.8 billion, while console gaming earned $6.6 billion.
Gaming videos earned $4.4 billion and eSports earned $0.9 billion. Despite having a tough first year the VR market earned $2.7 billion.
