Through hard work, creativity, and talent, Jennifer Muro has become one of the industry’s top female writers. Over the last decade, she has intricately crafted a multitude of storylines for film and TV; working with everyone from Lucasfilm to Nickelodeon to Disney. Using writing as her superpower, Muro is on a mission to make women of all ages feel strong and empowered through the characters she creates. It’s her refreshing perspective that has made her a go-to name in the writing world today.
This year she serves as the sole writer for Lucasfilm’s animated series Star Wars: Forces of Destiny. Set to premiere on Disney in July 2017, the series consists of 16 episodes and celebrates the inspiring stories of iconic Star Wars heroes. It will feature previous film and series talent to reprise their roles including Daisy Ridley, Felicity Jones, and Lupita Nyong’o, to name a few.
Additionally, Jennifer recently completed writing for Marvel’s upcoming Spider-Man animated series, set to premiere on Disney XD in the near future.
Muro is also hard at work on developing her female-driven comedy adventure series with Nickelodeon, and an original web series with Jim Henson Studios.
The Koalition had an opportunity to interview Muro about the pressures of writing, being a female in a male-dominated industry, her love of Superwoman, and what we can expect from her projects.
Forces of Destiny will first premiere on Disney’s YouTube starting Monday July 3rd and then premier on Disney Channel on Sunday July 9th.
