Last weekend, hundreds of people gathered at the Palm Springs Convention Center for the city’s second Comic Con. Even though temperatures pushed 115° and higher, it didn’t stop people from dressing up in all sorts of different cosplays and walking around the city. Comic Con Palm Springs had a little bit of everything when it came to cosplay – mash-ups, anime, movies, you name it!
While the event itself had some organization issues and was set up strangely, Comic Con Palm Springs still offered things for everyone. The Stan Lee Museum was free on the floor for anyone to walk in and enjoy, a speed dating event for those who were interested (18+), and several different exhibits off the show floor people could enjoy at their own leisure. Voice actors and guests were very approachable, but unfortunately the event stated no schedule for each guest, and the celebrity photo area was a logistic nightmare.
Hopefully with feedback from guests and the media, the organizers of Comic Con Palm Springs will take changes into consideration for it’s third year in 2018. The foundation for the event is there, but it still needs some tweaking. In the meantime, I’m sure cosplayers will still attended the affordable event and showcase their hard work for all attendees to enjoy.
