The holidays are around the corner and what better way to celebrate than with the youngest member of the Wayne Family. But while daddy Bruce is away, the villains will play.
Prime Video has released the first trailer for Merry Little Batman, their upcoming animated adventure about Damian Wayne (Yoneas Kibreab, the first person of color to play Batman) protecting Wayne Manor while his father is busy tackling another crime mission. Think Home Alone and The Grinch but with all the villains you love to hate. Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) would be in awe.
As seen in the trailer below, Gotham is officially crime free as Batman continues to clean it up. Life is good for Bruce Wayne as his son Damian declares he’s ready to be a superhero like him. Seeing his son’s potential, he gifts him his own Utility Belt (to only be used in emergencies). However, one night Bruce is called away by The Justice League. Suffering from working during the holidays guilt, he declares he’ll be back before Christmas as Damien is left alone in Wayne Manor on Christmas Eve.
With Batman out of town, The Joker decides this is an opportune time to steal Christmas…with a little help from his friends Poison Ivy, Bane, Mr. Freeze and more. Determined to prove to his father he can handle himself, a young hero will need to rise to the occasion, defend his home and all of Gotham City from supervillains, crooks, and anyone hell-bent on taking down Gotham City during the holiday season.
Will The Joker (David Hornsby) succeed in taking Christmas away from everyone? Can Batman (Luke Wilson) and Damian defeat one of DC Universe’s toughest opponents? Or will keeping everyone at bay prove to be too difficult for Damian? If Gotham City wants to celebrate a very special time with their families, Damian must do everything in his power to stop the Clown Prince of Crime before it’s too late. Wearing his own Batsuit, Batman’s son will turn into the hero his father has always been for him.
Releasing December 8th, Merry Little Batman is produced by Warner Bros. Animation and based on characters from DC. Merry Little Batman features the voices of Yonas Kibreab, Luke Wilson, James Cromwell, and David Hornsby and is directed by Mike Roth (Regular Show) from a screenplay by Morgan Evans (Teen Titans Go!) and Jase Ricci (Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham). Roth also serves as executive producer alongside Sam Register (Looney Tunes cartoons).
Merry Little Batman is part of a larger collaboration between DC Comics and Prime Video, originally slated for the Max streaming service, this will lead to an all-ages Bat-Family animated series set in the same universe, it will debut in 2024 on Amazon Prime Video.
