During Summer Games Fest, RGG Studio and SEGA made headlines by announcing Stranger Than Heaven will launch on January 15th, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. This exciting news came alongside a new trailer revealing that legendary rapper Tupac is also a part of the cast. The trailer is included above for you all to check out.
While the addition of Tupac has surprised and confused many, the idea of him being a part of the game makes perfect sense to me. First and foremost, Snoop Dogg and his son play key roles in the story, and Snoop has been working closely with those running Tupac’s estate. Hip-hop fans know how close Snoop was to Tupac throughout his career, so adding him to this experience is an opportunity for a new generation of players to learn about his work.
In addition to being a fighting game, Stranger Than Heaven has a musical element that is important to the overall experience. Music will span across all eras and show how the genre evolves. When you consider these two factors closely, along with the fact that the developers are having fun adding cool things to the game, choosing to add Tupac makes some sense.
Stay tuned for more thoughts and impressions on Stranger Than Heaven in the months ahead, and let us know if you plan on checking out the game.
