Bandai Namco has released a new trailer for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3, titled Welcome to West City. It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years since the release of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, but during that time, it has maintained a loyal fanbase that has only hoped for a new next-gen iteration of the beloved Xenoverse series.
The Dragon Ball Xenoverse series is known for allowing players to create their own Z fighter and take on legendary characters from Dragon Ball through a unique narrative. Players can create the hero they dream of becoming, exploring a mysterious new world brought to life by the late, great Akira Toriyama.
The previous games were based on a Time Patrol theme, where players were able to travel back to iconic moments in the Dragon Ball lore and change outcomes. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 does away with the Time Patrol theme, blessing us with something new and refreshing. This time around, the game is set 200 years after the events of Dragon Ball Z, taking place in a new world called AGE 1000. Players will join the Great Saiyan Squad, fighting alongside allies. From what it seems, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 won’t lean on the original storylines and characters like the first two games did, which will please many fans who were tired of seeing the same stories repeated through all Dragon Ball games.
The new trailer shows off the environment Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 is set in, West City. It’s a futuristic city with flying cars, vibrant buildings, and many characters of interest. The trailer introduces players to some of the new characters they’ll be interacting with during their time as a Saiyan Squad superhero.
Players will be able to choose between many races when creating their characters, from the beloved Saiyan race to Androids and Frost Demons. There are two new races announced, those being Bio-Android and Kaioshin. A new mechanic exists called Soul Switch, which allows players to temporarily harness the power of a Dragon Ball character’s soul, such as Goku, Krillin, Piccolo, Vegeta, Future Trunks, and Tien.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 will be available sometime in 2027 for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Check out the trailer above!
