Microsoft has pulled the plug on 1 Vs. 100. Microsoft’s one and only Xbox Primetime game show will not be returning for a third season.
Kotaku received a statement from Microsoft Game Studios’ General Manager Dave McCarthy, saying, “We’re very proud of the 1 vs 100 team and their accomplishments, and are excited to apply what we’ve learned to future programming.” Microsoft goes on to say that the 1 Vs. 100 team is now “focusing their skills and applying the technology used to develop “1 vs 100″ to new projects that will be unveiled in the future.”
I’m a bit surprised Microsoft canceled this before the Kinect release date. The Kinect audience that Microsoft is going for seems like the type of audience that would enjoy 1 Vs. 100. I guess all those Progressive ads weren’t enough to turn a profit for the game show. It’s sad to see 1 Vs. 100 go, it was a breakout hit and an innovation. I wish I would of gotten all the achievements on this game before it got canned. Oh well, goodbye Chris Cashman.
