Great news my fellow PC gamer elitists, the Final Fantasy XIII series is coming to PC starting with Final Fantasy XIII itself. Final Fantasy XIII will hit both the Square Enix online store and Steam on October 9th, 2014.
Currently the Europe prices advertised are £10.99/€12.99 and you can pre-order the game right now. Pre-ordering will give you 10% off the overall price, so it’s definitely worth it. There’s no word on when Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII will release on PC, but I’m sure we won’t have to wait too long.
Square Enix has been generous to the PC audience over the past few years, releasing older Final Fantasy titles along with Final Fantasy XIV on both Steam and the Square Enix store. With the Final Fantasy XIII series releasing on PC I’m going to make a prediction that we may see a Final Fantasy XV PC release alongside the console versions.
Here are the real questions; will these games be well optimised for the PC? Will we get to play around with graphics settings and make the game look as beautiful as ever? Will there be mod support? If Square Enix can give us a yes to all these answers then this could be something special. They’ve already confirmed the game will support Steam trading cards and achievements, which is a step in the right direction.
If you haven’t already then be sure to check out the brand new Final Fantasy XV trailer.
