2024 has officially ended and while it turned out to be a decent year for game releases, 2025 already looks bigger and better in every way. With juggernauts like Monster Hunter Wilds, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and so much more on the horizon, it’s fair to say that every gamer is in for a treat. Let’s kick things off with January and highlight 5 upcoming games worth checking out this month.
Dynasty Warriors: Origins

Dynasty Warriors: Origins is a single-player hack-and-slash strategic game based on the Chinese novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Marked as the first new entry in the series in 7 years, Origins is designed to offer a new perspective on storytelling while pushing PlayStation 5 hardware to its limits. Curious how the game is? Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is a single-player action role-playing game and the second entry in a planned trilogy for Final Fantasy VII. Originally released as a timed PS5 exclusive last year, this magnificent game finally comes to PC later this month. Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O

Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O is a fighting game and the official Windows port of Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown. This enhanced version has 4K visuals, rollback netcode, and additional game balance changes. If you enjoyed the surprise Virtua Fighter 6 reveal trailer at The Game Awards last month, this game is the perfect way to jump back into the series ahead of the next entry.
Sniper Elite: Resistance

Sniper Elite: Resistance is a single-player and multiplayer third-person tactical shooter. This latest entry in the Sniper Elite series focuses on Harry Hawker as he works alongside the French Resistance to stop the Nazis from launching a new weapon. I previewed the game a few months ago and highly recommend it for fans of Sniper Elite 5.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is a single-player action-adventure game and the massive sequel to Insomniac Games’ 2018 Spider-Man. After launching on PS5 in 2023, this outstanding title finally hits PC later this month. Check out my in-depth review for more details on what to expect.
