The Co-op Podcast #131: Are Gamers Ready For An Online Only Console?

Welcome to another exciting episode of The Co-op Podcast 131. Unfortunately we wasn’t able to record a video version this week, but we have the usual audio versions available below. This week we brought on Jakejames Lugo and Dameon to discuss some of the latest topics, including Nintendo filing a patent for a system with no optical drive. As Jakejames Lugo pointed out, this may not be for their next system at all. Companies often file patents and don’t do anything with them. But we thought it was a great time to explore the possibility of a discless gaming system and how it would affect retailers like Gamestop. Are gamers ready for it?

Also on this episode we discuss the PS4 preview program, Phil Spencer alluding to backwards compatibility for original Xbox games, and the list of updates for Destiny: The Taken King. Dameon also wanted to revisit some topics from the previous episode, and touch on some statements made by Charles, Tony Polanco and I.
