Throwdown Ep. 58 – “All Hail the Conquering Hero”

Welcome to another episode of Throwdown. On this podcast/vidcast we discuss the latest video game, pop culture, and tech news in an honest and uncompromising fashion.

The moment many gamers have waited for is finally here. That’s right, Microsoft’s flagship exclusive, Halo 5: Guardians has touched down on Earth. Since this is the biggest exclusive of the year, we’ve asked our very own Editor-in-Chief, Richard Bailey Jr., to join us on the show and discuss the game (he did review it on the site, after all). Richard tells us everything he liked (and didn’t like) about Halo 5‘s single player campaign and its multiplayer. Has 343 Industries delivered a title worthy of Bungie? We discuss that in-depth.

As big as the release of Halo 5 was however, it was almost eclipsed by Sony’s conference at the Paris Games Week event. Those who said Sony has no exclusives were rendered silent as they unveiled well over a dozen exclusives coming to the PlayStation 4. We discuss each of the major games shown, and if Sony will completely dominate 2016 even more so than they did 2015 (and 2014).

We also discuss Nintendo’s current situation regarding their first mobile “game” with DeNA: Miitomo, and their overall situation in the gaming industry.
