Alan Ritchson Is Seeking Revenge in Motor City Trailer

This is Motor City, 1970’s Detroit where Alan Ritchson’s John Miller is madly in love with Shailene Woodley’s Sophia, however, on the day he proposes to her he is captured by police to serve a long sentence. Years later, he is released and begins his journey of revenge.

As seen in the trailer above, in 1970s Detroit, a working-class romantic is framed by a ruthless gangster after falling for his girlfriend. After years in prison, he returns with only one mission: revenge. With operatic scale, Motor City unleashes a barrage of brutal action, magnetic performances, and striking imagery, fueled by a thunderous rock score, precision-crafted action, and immersive sound design to create a visceral, propulsive spectacle built to electrify audiences this summer.

In addition to Ritchson and Woodley, the cast of the movie includes Pablo Schreiber (Halo, Orange is the New Black), Ben Foster (Hell or High Water, Leave No Trace), and Ben McKenzie (Southland, Gotham). Motor City is written by Chad St. John. Ponciroli made his feature film directorial debut in 2021 with Old Henry, which stars Tim Blake Nelson and Stephen Dorff. His second film was 2024’s Greedy People, a crime comedy with an all-star cast that includes Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Himesh Patel, Lily James, Nelson, Simon Rex, Neva Howell, Jim Gaffigan, and more. Motor City is Ponciroli’s third feature film.

Motor City will speed into theaters on July 24, 2026.
