Test Drive Unlimited director Alain Jarniou told VG247 earlier that they are planning an open beta for the well praised driving simulator sometime this year. There was no information regarding which platform we will see this beta on, as Alain made it clear that the game is still in testing. He did elaborate on why they are going with a beta however, saying that because the game is so huge in size it would be way too big for a demo. Below is a direct quote from the man himself.
“Right now, the plan is to have an open beta of TDU2,” said the team chief.
“The difficulty of having a demo for a game like this is the fact it’s a huge island, and a huge amount of data. It’s not the best way to show the game. So yeah, for now the plan’s an open beta.”
Judging by how satisfying the first game was to driving fanatics, I am sure we are in for a real treat this time around. Test Drive Unlimited drops this autumn for PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.
