The Best Games Of 2011: Ace Attorney Investigations 2

Ace Attorney Investigations 2

If there’s one thing I love doing at nights, it’s going to bed with a Nintendo DS which has an Ace Attorney game in its cartridge slot. The first three games which Starred Phoenix Wright were all amazing, but when Capcom decided to switch lead characters for Ace Attorney: Apollo Justice the series started to show signs of aging. Rather than continuing the decline Capcom chose to drastically tweak the dynamics of the game and thus Ace Attorney Investigations was born. Instead of adopting the role of a justice seeking attorney, AA Investigations had you playing as a prosecutor who solves murders and convicts culprits on location… who needs a court room?! Starring Miles Edgeworth (Phoenix Wright’s friend/rival), Investigations was the shot in the arm that the franchise needed and now here is the much appreciated sequel. If you’re new to the series, the Ace Attorney games are essentially point and click adventure games which has you getting your ‘First 48 Hours’ on to put murderers behind bars. The game’s slow pace and lack of voice acting may turn some inpatient gamers off but the excellent writing, shocking twists and satisfying gameplay will reward those who are willing to give it chance. Think of this as an excellent interactive book, only without the eye-sore and paper cuts. With the 3DS right around the corner, Ace Attorney Investigations 2 is likely to be one of the last major titles released on the DS. Do yourself a favour and actually BUY this game when it’s released, I’m sure your R4 cartridge will understand.
