Bioware Goes From EA Studio To EA Label

Bioware happens to be one of my favorite game studios right now. They’ve come a long way; from making classic RPG experiences such as Baldur’s gate, Neverwinter Knights and Jade Empire, to finding mainstream success with joining EA. Games like Mass Effect and Dragon Age have solidified their spot amongst a broader range of consumers, and now they’re reaping the benefits.

EA Labels currently consists of EA Games, EA Sports and EA Play; as well as sub-label EA Interactive which houses their new PopCap purchase. Well now Bioware are to become their very own EA label, which I must say I’m optimistic about. I know EA are most likely responsible for the dumbing-down of certain Bioware titles, but to see them become their own label is a great thing for RPG style games overall. It means that RPG games are getting more recognition on a broader level. This is a move that may help pave the way for smaller RPG developers.
