Gamefly To Offer Digital Distribution Service For PC/Mac

Gamefly has finally graduated to digital distribution for PC and Mac titles they today announced. Shack News which is a subsidiary of Gamefly reports that the portal will handle more than straight sales. Gamefly subscribers will be granted all-you-can-eat access to a collection of games through a service called Unlimited PC Play. The service will also come with many community features such as, persistant identities, the creation and sharing of games libraries, and in-client news and updates.

The new service will go into beta next month, and current rental subscribers will get first look at it. The service is expected in the UK and US during the holiday season. Also note that earlier this year, Gamefly purchased Direct2Drive – formerly part of IGN’s network. There are already a number of digital distribution services for PC and Mac, so it will be interesting to see how this holds up.
