It’s that time of the week for our Throwback Thursday feature and my pick for this week is from South Central MC – CJ Mac.
CJ Mac was one of the very few West Coast artists in the 90s that was signed to Houston, Texas’ Rap-A-Lot Records.
“True Game“(released in 1995) was the only album to come to fruition during CJ Mac’s time on the southern hip-hop label and this week’s Throwback Thursday track is the lead single from that album “Come and Take a Ride” which features fellow West Coast artist Poppa LQ. The singer SexC is also featured in the hook.
This song is one of the lesser known G-Funk hits from the 90s.
I only recently listened to “True Game” and I can safely say it is a certified classic G-Funk album which contains thorough production by CJ Mac himself.
