Thanks to great titles like Dynasty Warriors: Origins and Sniper Elite: Resistance, January was a solid month for video game releases. This month will turn everything up a notch as several heavy-hitter releases are expected to keep us busy. Monster Hunter Wilds leads the charge and will be joined by several other notable highlights. Here’s our list of 6 upcoming games worth checking out this month.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance II

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is a single-player first-person perspective open-world action role-playing game set in 15th-century Bohemia. This long-awaited sequel concludes the story of the lead protagonist Blacksmith Henry of Skalitz as he becomes a warrior fit for taking out the Emperor responsible for killing his family. I previewed this game last September and was impressed by how authentic the setting felt.

Sid Meier’s Civilization VII

Sid Meier’s Civilization VII is a single-player and multiplayer 4X turn-based strategy game. Players take on the role of prominent leaders as they face off against each other and oversee the growth of civilization over time. If you like strategy games centered around world-building and defending your territory, this title should be on your radar.

Avowed is a single-player first-person and third-person perspective action role-playing game set in the world of Eora. Players take on the role of an envoy assigned to the Living Lands to investigate the origins of a mysterious plague. If you’re a fan of Obsidian and have an Xbox Series X/S, PC, or Game Pass, then you have no reason not to check this out.

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage Tape 1

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage is a single-player two-part adventure game about four former friends who reunite after 27 years. Developed by the same team that created Life is Strange, Lost Records is expected to have plenty of twists and turns to keep players on the edge of their seats. Check out Tape 1 later this month and stay tuned for Tape 2 when it drops on April 15th.

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is a single-player action-adventure game and the latest spinoff of the Like a Dragon series. The story revolves around Goro Majima after being stranded on a remote island and leading his newly formed pirate crew. Fans of the Yakuza games are in for a treat when this wildly fun title drops later this month.

Monster Hunter Wilds

Monster Hunter Wilds is a single-player and multiplayer third-person perspective action role-playing game. Players take on the role of customizable Hunters who travel to the Forbidden Lands in search of various types of monsters. Monster Hunter Wilds is already a strong candidate for GOTY and this excitement will grow even further now that a second beta is coming next week.
