After a lot of confusion about if this was an April Fools joke it appears that Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon has become reality with a new trailer showing off footage of the game, and it certainly doesn’t disappoint. If you’re a fan of 80’s cartoons and cheesy one-liners then come right this way!
Check out the trailer above for all the crazy goodness, a few details of the game have come out including that the game is still open world and that the game is standalone, meaning that it is not DLC for original game and it is not required for you to have Far Cry 3.
Creative director Dean Evans had a few words to say about the game: “Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon is an all-out honest cyber shooter that doesn’t take itself too seriously.”
“I’m certainly a bit tired of shooters that take place in a modern setting and that have quite a lot of warfare. So it’s nice to be able to just fucking go off and do something else. Things don’t have to make much sense.”
“The philosophy with Blood Dragon was to create something that’s so bad it’s good. Many shooters are just 80s action movies in disguise so we just embraced it and ran with it.”
After not really enjoying the Far Cry series that much hopefully Blood Dragon will be the burst of energy that gets me hooked, the Far Cry games have seemed to take themselves a bit too seriously so it’s very surprising that such a large company would make such a game like this. It’s strange that the game is not a new title all together, however I suppose that it will help sales with the Far Cry name attached to it.
The trailer is absolutely fantastic and the game looks mental (in the best possible way). Let me know in the comments what you think about it.
Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is coming to XBLA, PSN and PC on May 1st.
