More than 20 years after its initial Amiga release, Flashback, the platforming jungle classic is being re-imagined by Ubisoft and will become a downloadable game for the 360 and PS3 later this year.
The game is a HD re-imagining of the original and will feature some modern advancements such as a mini-map and an XP upgrade system allowing to buff your character and unlock new upgrades.
Developer Vectorcell says “We thought we could both honor our fans who have been asking us for the return of Conrad for a long time and also allow a younger audience to discover the universe of Flashback.”
“Some characters that were sort of in the background in the first version were developed and have taken on more importance, we also went back and took a longer look at some of the blurry spots in the first Flashback and the fans will hopefully discover certain aspects of the world that might have been overlooked.”
“Accessibility was brought up to current standards as was the level design, rather punishing through today’s lenses if we had kept it exactly as it was. For example, there’s a mini-map on the top right corner of the screen that provides constant pathing information, making sure you never get too lost.”
