Warner Bros. Interactive and developer Techland aren’t waiting for E3 to announce their latest game. Dying Light is Techland’s latest game, which is being developed by the team that brought us the original Dead Island. Techland has once again decided to keep the undead at the center of the game, mixing the survival horror gameplay with free-run movements.
“The next-gen technology allows us to create a truly dynamic open world that features a game-changing day-night cycle,” said Paweł Marchewka, CEO of Techland. “Inventive free running mechanics also allow for nearly unrestricted exploration and weapon-crafting to further enhance the action survival experience.”
It’s kind of hard for me to get excited for yet another zombie game but it seems like Dying Light is implementing new gameplay options and tactics. The game changing day-night cycle specifically sounds rather interesting. Having to gather supplies by day and kills zombies by night is a different approach from most games of this genre. Techland also pointed out that completing side-quest by night will grant you a bigger reward for the risk. And although, the haven’t dropped the name of the setting the screenshots are reminiscent to the favelas in Brazil. It would be pretty great if you get to jump from building to building like Vin Diesel did in Fast Five. (Tell me that scene wasn’t cool)
Dying Light just became one of the games I need to check out at E3, so expect more from us regarding Dying Light. Dying Light is due out in 2014 on next-gen consoles, as well as current-gen and PC.
