The PlayStation 4 has sold a very impressive 2.1 million units since launch, Sony today confirmed.
Sony Computer Entertainment President and group CEO Andrew House revealed the news on the PlayStation Blog:
“It’s an impressive and record-setting accomplishment for our company and for our industry, and we couldn’t have done it without you,” House wrote. “I want to personally thank PlayStation fans, both old and new, for your vote of confidence. The best part: the PlayStation 4 journey has just begun. In addition to an incredible lineup of PS4 games from the best developers in the world, we will continue to introduce valuable new features and services to PS4 in the months and years ahead.”
This figure breaks all company records and is PlayStation’s most successful launch. Things are looking very bright for Sony and the PlayStation 4! The Xbox One has also faired well in the sales with the console selling over 1 million units on launch day, we have not been updated on the figures since then but it is clear that console gaming is still in huge demand.
It is nice that both companies are experiencing success, it looks like this generation is going to be a good one after all!
