Square Halts Sales of Final Fantasy 14 to Fix Server Issues

It looks like you’re going to have to wait a little longer to purchase Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn. This is because Square Enix decided to temporarily halt sales for Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn, so they can fix server issues.

“Due to the overwhelmingly positive response to Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn, we are currently experiencing extremely long wait times for users to be able to log in and play. As a temporary measure, we will halt sales of Final Fantasy 14’s digital download products so we can accommodate all of those wishing to play. We are working to expand our server capacity in the coming days.”

According to Polygon, players who pre-ordered the game in North America and Europe are experiencing issues under error 107, which essentially tells players that the world is full and that they should try again (and again) later. Final Fantasy 14’s producer and director, Naoki Yoshida, issued a formal apology on the company’s forums. He also revealed that the company will halt character creation as well in certain worlds  for related reasons.

Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn looks like a drastic overhaul of the original game, which had a disastrous reception. It’s a shame that the game’s launch isn’t running according to plan; however, at least Square Enix has recognized the problem and are actively working to fix it.

Are you among the players to have experienced error 107, or a player who was surprised at not being able to purchase the game? Tell us about it in the comments.
