After months of speculation, Microsoft has finally confirmed that the Xbox 720 will officially be revealed to the masses on May 21st. This news comes courtesy of several media outlets and press representatives who received an RSVP invitation to the event earlier today. The special invite image can be seen below for verification.
When asked about the Xbox 720 event, Major Nelson also confirmed the news with the following tweet linking to his blog for further details.

While the press will be granted special access to the event, the general public will also be able to watch the festivities live over Xbox Live. While I am no doubt happy that we finally will learn more about the Xbox 720, I can’t help but wonder why this reveal wasn’t held off until E3 2013. Both events are only 19 days apart from each other and I’m not understanding why this reveal couldn’t have happened sooner.
On the other hand, it is good to finally get a concrete date as I have grown tired of all the rumors concerning Xbox 720 over the last few months. The PlayStation 4 has no doubt picked up a great deal of interests heading into E3, and it will be interesting to see just what Microsoft has up their sleeves.
