A few days ago, Game Informer posted and then quickly retracted a story about a Final Fantasy XV demo. That act right there all but confirmed this story to be true but today, Square-Enix made it official. Come 2015, the world at large will get to test out the latest in the long running JRPG series for themselves.
The downloadable demo will be released alongside Final Fantasy Type-O HD which will be out on March 17, 2015 in North America and March 20, 2015 for Europe. The demo is called “Episode Duscae” and it will let players try out some of the opening parts of the game. The progression of these moments have been altered from those of the main game to make it suitable for a demo.
What’s interesting here is that players will be able to get the demo “for free” with a voucher code inside of Type-O HD. What does that mean exactly? Will those who don’t buy Type-O have to pay for the demo? That wouldn’t sit well with a lot of people I imagine.
So there you have it, a piece of Final Fantasy XV is within reach. As a fan of the series, I’m very excited to get my hands on this. If the trailers we’ve seen of the game are any indication, then this is shaping up to be one of the best games in the series. I guess we’ll see how it turns out whenever it’s released.
