Mirror’s Edge 2 Focusing On First Person Combat Rather Than Movement

Mirror’s Edge 2 is apparently going to be based more around first-person combat than the first game, the information comes from an interview with DICE general manager Karl Magnus Troedsson on CVG.

Troedsonn had this to say when asked about the game:

“What I can say is that if the last game focused on first-person movement, it was definitely shown in the movie here that the DICE team will be focusing on first-person combat as well, to really nail and refine that,”

“Fans of the game will just have to wait and see until we talk more about the actual game is and the vital mechanics of it. We’ve shown the combat and movement now, but there’s so much more to talk about. What I can say is, this is not just going to be the same game as the last one. We’re building Faith for a new generation.”

Hopefully this means that the movement will still be a big part of the game, I can’t imagine a Mirror’s Edge game being mostly about combat rather than the movement. Combat was definitely a weak link in the first one so it is good to see them focusing on it and trying to improve it. Hopefully they perfect both the movement and the combat to make Mirror’s Edge 2 much better than the original.

Let me know in the comments what you think about what Troedsoon said, do you think it is a good think to focus on the combat?
