Happy Monday listeners! Another week, another dope collection of Hip Hop to strike up!
Leading the charge is Raekwon The Chef with an entry from his Throwback series and this time he tackles Gap Band’s “Yearning For Your Love”. It’s always dope to hear the legend spit and it’s about time we got another full project. Fingers crossed.
Following him up is J. Cole with his heart wrenching track “Be Free”. Inspired by the devastating events currently going on in Ferguson, Cole spills his blood over this song. If you’re unaware of the happenings, follow Anon Ferguson.
Russ and Kembe X both make impressive returns to #ThePlaylist with “Dr. Dre” and “HYDROCODONE” respectively, but the most exciting return is Kim with “Friendly Reminder”. Speaking on his rise with no co-sign, Kim, who impressed with his first appearance on here, decimates Beyonce’s “Bow Down” and Drake’s “Trophies” instrumentals. His rapid fire flow earns him Song of the Week and we hope for more soon.
Rounding out the list, Action Bronson makes an appearance courtesy of Statik Selektah’s project What Goes Around which drops tomorrow. This slow burner spells another victory for the project and I can’t wait to peep it in its final form.
