No, you didn’t misread that headline. The soundtrack to Sony’s critically acclaimed Journey will be getting the vinyl treatment thanks to iam8bit.
The group has teamed up with Sony Santa Monica and artist Mark Englert to create the art for this project. This soundtrack includes two picture disks which feature unique art on both sides each. The disks have the traveler’s scarf on it so you’ll see it spin as the record plays. Inside the gatefold jacket you can see the ancestor painting on the bottom and the album credits in the middle.
The cover of the album will be made available as a giant 12 x 36-inch canvas. There are nine different colors used and they are layered on top of each other to create tones and texture. Special inks like pearlescent metallics were also used to let the sand have a shimmering effect. This will be limited to 350 total and are signed by the artist.
Pre-orders will begin tomorrow.
